The current that runs between 鼻祖道 and 鼻祖錄. 道 is the direction of thought, 路 is the time spent walking, 錄 is what is left written down. This book holds the middle — the time spent walking on two feet.
It was written in front of the lacquer trees of Bagan in Myanmar, in the wind of the Janggyeong Panjeon at Haeinsa, beside the hemp stalks of Andong, and on the ridges of Taebaek and Sobaek. Not tourism, but a journey that asks what you put down before you came home — and a way of checking, on the road, the philosophy of materials that runs from the Gyeyeongbae cup through 3D printing, lacquer and hemp. The author notes that about seventy percent is what he saw and confirmed himself; the remaining thirty is left empty on purpose, for the reader to fill with their own memory.
